Position Overview:
The Retail and Sales Merchandise UX Designer is responsible for designing and creating user-centered and visually appealing merchandise experiences within the retail environment. This role requires a strong understanding of user experience (UX) principles, design thinking, and retail merchandising strategies. The Merchandise UX Designer collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance the overall customer journey and optimize sales through effective visual merchandising.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative and creative merchandise UX strategies, concepts, and designs to engage customers and drive sales.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, marketing, and sales, to understand customer needs and business objectives.
- Conduct user research and gather insights to inform merchandise UX design decisions.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to visualize and communicate design concepts and interactions.
- Design and refine user interfaces for various retail channels, including physical stores, e-commerce platforms, and mobile applications.
- Ensure consistency and adherence to brand guidelines in all merchandise UX designs.
- Collaborate with visual merchandising teams to effectively integrate visual elements and product placement strategies into the overall merchandise UX design.
- Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to iterate and improve merchandise UX designs.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in merchandise UX design and retail merchandising.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
- Proven experience as a UX designer or similar role, preferably within the retail or e-commerce industry.
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and design thinking methodologies.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, or similar.
- Strong visual design skills with an eye for aesthetics and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Knowledge of retail merchandising strategies and principles is preferred.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and frontend development concepts is a plus.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong UX design skills and previous retail or e-commerce design projects is required.
